Echolot – Projekte für demokratische Kultur, gegen Mafien e.V. (projects for democratic culture, against mafias) is a not-for-profit association carrying out research, education and cultural projects in the fields of human rights, democratic culture and social justice. At the moment Echolot is a partner in the EU-funded project Creating public spaces which has been developed in cooperation with the civil society Osservatorio sulla 'ndrangheta (Observatory of the 'ndrangheta) in Reggio Calabria / Italy.
The association analyzes the mafias and criminal economies to develop ways of denouncing them, and to create civil society-models of fighting and preventing them. Its projects are designed as human rights-based cultural strategies with the aim of strengthening solidarity and democratic civil society.
